In the world of extreme sports, the Natural Selection Tour Duels is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. This snowboarding competition features the world’s top riders, competing in a series of head-to-head duels to determine who is the best of the best. I had the incredible opportunity to shoot an episode of the tour for RedBull TV, which took me and two of the top female snowboarders in the world, Elena Hight and Enni Rukajarvi, deep into the backcountry.

Getting to the remote snowboarding zone is never easy, but it was definitely an adventure. We had to use snowmobiles to access the area, navigating through some forests and over a frozen lake. The Natural Selection Tour Duels is all about showcasing the incredible skills of the riders, and that’s exactly what we aimed to capture with our cameras. As a filmer, my job was to capture the action as it unfolded naturally. We had multiple cameras set up around the selected zone, including drones that could capture sweeping aerial shots of the riders in action. The team also had handheld cameras that allowed us to get up close and personal with the riders as they executed their tricks.

One of the most challenging aspects of shooting the Natural Selection Tour Duels was the unpredictable nature of the weather. We had to contend with high winds which unfortunately swept away alot of the fresh snow. But we were prepared for the conditions, with specialized gear and experienced crew members who knew how to handle.

It was a privilege to work with some of the top athletes in the world and to witness their incredible skills up close. And I was proud to be a part of the RedBull TV team, which is committed to bringing the most exciting and dynamic sporting events to audiences around the world.
